We’re excited to share our latest update to SketchBook Pro. There are updates to the drawing experience across all the drawing programs. First, we’ve added a new user interface that provides better context for working in SketchBook Pro.

We are also excited to announce that SketchBook Pro now supports the pressure sensitivity of the Surface Pro 3 pen! In addition, the Surface Pro 3 has a screen with a resolution of 4,096 x 2,736, which makes it possible for you to draw and view detailed lines, curves, and shapes in SketchBook Pro.

The title combines SketchBook Pro and SketchBook Express into a single app, which is good because the Express version offers a lot of the core features of the full-fledged app. The only thing missing is the Custom Brushes library.

SketchBook Pro does offer a number of new brushes, which cover the basics, including pastels, oil pens, acrylics and airbrush along with specialty graphics like carbon paper, carbon pencils, and paint rollers. They’re designed for creating paper-based art, similar to how the brushes in Adobe Photoshop behave. And they behave a lot like the brushes you find in Photoshop, in that you can choose to soften, sharpen or blend their edges.

SketchBook Pro is pretty powerful and will likely replace Photoshop for most artists. The app features a new Color Variations tool that lets you choose a color group and then quickly change it to another color in the color palette. It also includes a new Image > Colors dialog that lets you choose colors that are similar to the one you’re working on.

In SketchBook, the options don’t have preset settings that are the same as the ones in Photoshop. Instead, you’re encouraged to customize each preset to create a brush that suits the artist’s style. In this case, the presets only work on paper-based art. I’ve tried making some brushes using Photoshop but they really don’t work well on the iPad.

It’s good that you added a new tool to fix brushes in sketchbook pro, it’s the only thing that really frustrates me about sketchbook. The brush options are the same as what you have on the paint tool that you used to use. We need more customization of brush options.
