This assignment was supported by sequence identity to a B. microti isolate obtained from a bat in Alaska [ 27 ], indicating that the Babesia microti-like parasite in P. rufus represented an adaptation to a peridomestic environment in the United States. While theres no denying that Rufus is a compelling character, theres also no denying that theres a few too many scenes that veer off into the flamboyant and kind of annoying. It feels as though Scott and co.ve gotten rid of the main character in lieu of going for a good, outlandish look at a horror film with the characters. His character is a bit annoying and irritating at times, but thats because Wainwright handles this film with a more mature hand than usual.
